Must Have Workout Essentials for Travel
Trying to keep up with your fitness routine when it comes to travel can be a real struggle. I find the key to maintaining a balanced healthy lifestyle while traveling is finding that happy medium by packing light & only the essentials. For workouts on the go, I’ve rounded up some of my best workout essentials for travel that will hopefully help encourage you to break a sweat and keep fit and active whilst still enjoying a sneaky pina colada or two.
See below my best travel workout equipment that’s simple, travel friendly, and will keep you in shape no matter where you are.
Trainers
My go-to workout shoes for travel are a simple pair of Adidas trainers. I like keeping my exercise shoes versatile so I can mix & match them with my outfits. Having the right pair of trainers is not only great for exercise but great for everyday travel, these light pair of Adidas trainers can be worn anytime anywhere.
Ahh resistance bands, great for smashing out those quick booty workouts. They’re thin and lightweight which means they will barely take up any room in your suitcase. I have these from Sports Research they come with 5 bands in a pack, which is awesome as you you can easily adjust to your fitness level.
Another great item to add to your workout essentials list is a microfibre towel. Having a microfibre towel on hand is great after a sweaty workout or having done a few laps at the pool or beach. Microfibre towels are quick to absorb water and are quick to dry which comes in super handy when traveling.
Drink Bottle
Drink Drink Drink, Water Water Water!. keeping hydrated is essential when working out. I highly recommend Lifestraw drink bottles for travelers on the go. Lifestraw bottles have a built-in water filter system that filters out bad chemicals and parasites leaving you with safe clean drinking water. Awesome for workouts & everyday adventuring.
Snack Bars
I love a good post-workout snack, throw a protein bar in your bag, and your good to go. A few of my favorite brands are RXBars, particularly mixed berry & choc chip yum! Lara bars & Blue Dinosaur Bars.
Fitness Tracker
Keep track of your movements, steps & calories with a built-in wireless fitness tracker. The Apple Watch has an amazing activity tracker that will allow you to store & keep track of all your daily activities. Some of its features include heart rate monitoring, steps counted, distance traveled, elapsed time mode, and more. If the Apple Watch isn’t in your price range, you can always opt for something like the Fitbit which works just as well.
Activewear
Activewear is definitely number 2 on my workout essentials list. Nothing makes me more motivated and ready to workout than throwing on my favorite activewear. I normally pack one sports bra, one pair of shorts, and one pair of leggings. That’s really all you need! Check out a few of my favorite activewear brands that I like to wear. Cotton On Body, they have a heap of cute styles at affordable prices. Free People, Gymshark & Lululemon.
Yoga Mat
Save space in your suitcase with a small compact travel yoga mat. Throwing in a thin, lightweight yoga mat is perfect for those relaxing sunrise yoga sessions. Great for all those hardcore yogi’s out there.
Packing a small travel deodorant is never a bad idea in my opinion. This one from Underarmed comes in a variety of sents and is an all-natural deodorant containing no aluminum, chlorohydrate, or zirconium.
Ear Pods are great for travel in general. I find using cordless the best, especially when I’m working out. There’s nothing worse than being all twisted up in the cord. I happen to have a pair of Apple Ear Pods, however, there are so many brands out there doing the same design you could easily pick up a similar pair for half the price.
Sculpting Sliders
Sculpting sliders are relatively small & barely weigh anything, which makes them the perfect workout essential. Great for toning, sculpting, and strengthening of the muscles. These discs from Tone It Up are flippable and can be used on a variety of different surfaces.
Jump Rope
Hands down my favorite workout item to bring on vacation is a jump rope. It’s small easy to pack and you can basically use it anywhere. There are a heap of great ropes to choose from, I like this one Sports Research its adjustable and comes in 3 different colors
Exercise Dice
Tired of the same old routine? Exercise Dice is a fun way to mix up your workouts whilst getting in a full-body workout. These fun dice from Amazon are super easy to pack and come complete with an exercise manual showing you in detail each exercise. Great for stretching, bodyweight training & more.
If you do find yourself tight on space, don’t stress. I suggest just packing your trainers and activewear. Working out for 20mins a day, whether that be doing a quick yoga class or going for long walks, is great for the mind & body.
Just keeping your body moving is the most important thing. That said, these items are perfect workout essentials for travel and are great for mixing into a new travel workout routine.
